Networking Resources

GIF users have access to UC Berkeley campus networking infrastructure, including high-speed internet, VPN for remote access, and campus Wi-Fi.

Campus Network (CalNet)

GIF is connected to the UC Berkeley campus network (CalNet), providing high-speed internet access throughout the GIF lab in 111 Mulford Hall. Wired Ethernet connections are available at all GIF workstations.

UC Berkeley VPN

The UC Berkeley campus VPN is required for remote access to some licensed GIF and library resources when off campus. All current UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students are eligible.

Install the Cisco Secure Client (formerly AnyConnect) and authenticate with your CalNet credentials to connect.

eduroam Wi-Fi

eduroam is available throughout the UC Berkeley campus for all UC Berkeley affiliates, as well as visitors from other participating institutions. Connect using your @berkeley.edu credentials or your home institution's credentials.

Note: Some geospatial data services and licensed software portals may require an active campus network connection or VPN. If you experience access issues from off campus, connect to the UC Berkeley VPN first.
